CCAH Endorses Chris Ward for 78th Assembly District

The California Council for Affordable Housing is proud to officially endorse Chris Ward for California’s 78th Assembly District.

Assemblymember Ward is currently serving the San Deigo region as its elected representative in the Assembly since 2020. During his tenure, he has been a staunch advocate for more affordable housing and reductions in administrative red tape exacerbating our state’s housing shortage.

In the housing space, Assemblymember Ward has authored bills to reduce homelessness, simplify the property tax exemptions process, streamline building permit reviews, and secured more funding for housing programs through the budget. He has been a steadfast partner to CCAH, as he was the original architect for our sponsored bill to allow for the earlier repayment of loan from the Department of Housing and Community Development. While the final bill to eventually became law was introduced by a different author, without Assemblymember Ward’s leadership over the past three years, this new law would’ve never have made it past the finish line.

Addressing California’s housing shortage requires collaboration, creativity, and follow‑through. I’m grateful for the endorsement from the California Council for Affordable Housing and proud of the work we have done to stretch every dollar and deliver homes where they’re needed most. Together, we’re proving that smart financing and strong coordination can make a real difference for communities across the state.Chris Ward

“Assemblymember Ward has always been a champion for our industry; whether introducing bills to make an impact on the housing shortage or speaking to our members at our annual conference. We know Assemblymember Ward will continue the good fight for more affordable housing” said Jenna Abbott, Executive Director for CCAH
