The California Council for Affordable Housing is proud to officially endorse David Alvarez for California’s 80th Assembly District.
The 80th Assembly District encompasses communities including Chula Vista, National City, and portions of southern San Diego, areas that continue to face significant challenges related to housing affordability and production.
Assemblymember Alvarez’s past legislative actions have centered on strengthening tools such as the Density Bonus Law and advancing improvements to the housing element process. These measures play an important role in expanding opportunities for affordable housing, streamlining planning requirements, and supporting local governments in meeting state‑mandated housing goals.
“There is a need for more members like Assemblymember Alvarez. We need more leaders who understand the core issues to affordable developers and leaders who are going to fight for sound legislation to address our housing shortage.” said Jenna Abbott, Executive Director for CCAH.

“The endorsement of the California Council for Affordable Housing reflects our shared commitment to expanding access to safe, affordable homes. By working across sectors and levels of government, we’ve strengthened California’s housing pipeline and supported thousands of families this year. I’m excited to keep building on this momentum and ensuring our housing investments translate into lasting, measurable outcomes.” David Alvarez
