To foster meaningful conversation and direct engagement with the candidate, attendance will be limited to approximately 25 guests. This intimate gathering will provide an opportunity to hear Sara’s vision for California, discuss the issues that matter most to our communities, and learn how you can help elect a proven leader to the State Senate.

Meet Sara Hernandez
Sara Hernandez brings a unique combination of experience as an educator, attorney, nonprofit founder, and elected public servant. A resident of California’s 26th Senate District for more than 20 years, she has dedicated her career to expanding opportunity and improving outcomes for working families.
Sara began her professional journey as a middle school teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District before founding Helping Young People Excel (HYPE), a nonprofit focused on increasing educational opportunities for low-income students. Working closely with students and families facing housing insecurity, immigration challenges, and barriers to public services inspired her commitment to public policy and community advocacy.
She later served in Los Angeles City Hall, where she helped advance investments in housing, transportation, economic development, and homelessness programs. As a housing and environmental attorney, Sara worked on significant land use and development issues across the region while also providing pro bono legal assistance to immigrants and asylum seekers. Most recently, she served as a Managing Attorney at DLA Piper before launching her State Senate campaign.
In 2022, Sara was elected to the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees, where she has championed educational access, supported students experiencing housing insecurity, and expanded apprenticeship opportunities in the construction trades.
