The final weeks of the 2025 legislative session are upon us, and lawmakers are racing toward the September 12th deadline to pass bills out of the Legislature. Over the next two weeks, both chambers will be immersed in floor debates, offering a last chance for amendments and final changes to pending legislation. Once the dust settles, attention will shift to the Governor, whose signature will determine which bills become law.
At CCAH, we’re already looking ahead to 2026 – and we want to hear from you. What barriers to development have you encountered? What state policies or regulations have made it harder to build affordable housing? Your insights can help shape the legislative solutions we pursue next year. Our advocacy team continues to work tirelessly in the Capitol, building relationships with legislators who are eager to champion meaningful housing reform. Housing remains the “Belle of the Ball,” and we’re committed to seizing every opportunity to drive impactful change. Please email Paul Shafer with your ideas.
Meanwhile, election season is heating up. With the newly scheduled November Special Election focused on California’s mid-century redistricting, the political landscape is shifting quickly. CCAH’s Political Action Committee will be actively engaged throughout the season, supporting candidates who are committed to making housing more affordable across the state. If you share our vision for California’s future, consider contributing to the PAC – your support helps us move the needle.
