While the 2025-2026 legislative session may be behind us, CCAH is not slowing down. We have a busy season ahead with upcoming events, advocacy opportunities, and our Fall Conference just around the corner.

As we look toward the November 3, 2026 General Election, the CCAH PAC Steering Committee has been hard at work interviewing candidates, developing informative materials, and building relationships with the next cohort of California policymakers. The CCAH PAC exists to support candidates and ballot measures that align with our mission and values. As our advocacy efforts continue to grow both in Sacramento and throughout the state, support for the PAC will be critical to expanding our impact. There are several opportunities this fall to get involved and support both CCAH and the housing champions we are working to elect.

Support Sara Hernandez for State Senate

On October 6, CCAH PAC will host a fundraising reception in support of Sara Hernandez’s campaign for State Senate.

We are confident that Sara’s experience as a housing attorney, educator, nonprofit leader, and elected official will make her a strong advocate for affordable housing and community development in California. At a time when housing challenges continue to impact communities across the state, we need leaders who understand these issues and are prepared to take action.

Invest in the Future of Housing Advocacy through the CCAH PAC

In addition to supporting endorsed candidates, CCAH PAC will also host a fundraising event benefiting the PAC’s ongoing advocacy and political engagement efforts. These resources allow us to identify, support, and help elect leaders who prioritize affordable housing and understand the challenges facing our industry. Help Shape CCAH’s 2027 Legislative Priorities

While much of our attention remains focused on the 2026 election cycle, we are already preparing for the 2027 legislative session. Do you see barriers that make it harder to develop affordable housing in California? Is there a policy issue you’ve encountered repeatedly and believe lawmakers should address? Now is the time to bring those ideas forward.

On October 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., CCAH will host a virtual listening and collaborative discussion session to gather input for our 2027 legislative priorities. You do not need to be a policy expert to participate. Some of the most valuable insights come from the professionals working every day to finance, develop, manage, and preserve affordable housing. CCAH Submits Comments on HDFC Draft Regulations

On a separate but equally important front, HDFC recently released the first set of draft regulations. Through the collaborative efforts of CCAH’s Regulatory Affairs Working Group, Policy Committee, and Executive Committee, we submitted a public comment letter outlining our concerns and recommendations. Our comments focus on areas where the draft regulations fall short of their intended goals and identify opportunities to improve implementation. The agency is expected to release a revised version of the regulations on October 26, followed by a formal 21-day public comment period.
