CCAH has had a successful legislative year, with two of our three sponsored bills, AB 2089 and SB 677, advancing through the Legislature and now awaiting Governor Newsom’s signature for final approval. Although AB 2748, our EV charger readiness bill, did not advance out of committee, it opened the door to valuable conversations with stakeholders who opposed the measure. Those discussions have created new opportunities to collaborate on alternative approaches that could provide meaningful cost savings for affordable housing developers.
As 2027 approaches, I encourage all members to reach out and share ideas as we begin developing our next legislative package. Your input is critical to shaping our advocacy efforts. CCAH staff are currently building recommendations for our 2027 legislative priorities, which will be presented to the Board of Directors during our Fall Conference. Once the Legislature reconvenes in January, we’ll be ready to hit the ground running with a new slate of sponsored bills aimed at advancing our mission of addressing California’s housing affordability crisis.
We also encourage all conference attendees to join us for our Policy Roundtable on Friday, November 13, beginning at 9:00 a.m. This session serves as an open forum where members can learn about CCAH’s ongoing policy efforts, discuss challenges they are encountering in the field, and raise issues that may not yet be on our radar. It is also an opportunity to provide additional insights that can strengthen our advocacy efforts and inform the implementation of our approved 2027 legislative priorities.
Finally, Friday is the deadline to complete the survey about your experience working with LADWP. This joint effort, conducted in partnership with several prominent statewide advocacy organizations, is an important first step toward addressing long-standing concerns and identifying opportunities for improvement within the department. We encourage all members to participate and ensure their experiences are represented.
